Yoga Travel – often times when we travel and go to those places that we dreamed of, we get that aura that feels like a life changing experience. It’s a surreal moment to see natures wonder and seek for breathtaking adventures. But sometimes traveling can be quite stressful mentally and physically. It happens to everyone, especially when things don't go according to plan. Hence, it may lead to a terrible getaway.
These days not all travelers take the time to focus on there well-being while they are on their adventure. Firstly, people tend to eat too much of unhealthy food. Secondly, it's easy to come up with the excuse of there's no more time even for a light workout. Furthermore, due to time constrict with a full schedule of activities some travelers lack in sleep and rest. As a result, it decreases your energy levels, which makes it difficult to enjoy your travel. This is where yoga travel helps and plays a big importance to your health.
Here’s a list of why yoga is good for travelers:
You don’t have to look like a body builder when we say muscle strength. Yoga practice can build micro muscles that strengthens your core. Therefore, a strong core helps travelers with their posture and stability while sitting on a long flight. In addition, core strength is also the key to a good balance and overall control while on a hike or any type of adventure.
Probably you're asking what does flexibility have to do with traveling? Well, flexibility doesn’t only mean you can touch your head by your toes. Being flexible also means your muscles and connective tissues are not too tight. Rather they are flexible enough so that you won’t get tight hamstrings or cramps.
Healthier bones and joints
There’s a lot of yoga postures that requires you to lift your own weight. Thus, lifting your own weight strengthens your bones and even avoid osteoporosis. Every time you practice yoga, you also utilize the full range of motion of your joints. This helps prevent arthritis as you are able to use area of cartilage that you don’t normally use.
Releases muscle tension
As travelers we’ve all been there. Long hours of hiking, miles of miles of walking or even just sitting for several hours on a road trip. These all causes fatigue, soreness or tightness to your muscles. Doing yoga will release those tension and can get you ready feeling loose on the next day.
When we travel we want to make the most out of it. So we want to do as many activities as we can in a day. But there are times that it’s a bit too much and we only have few hours of sleep before getting up the next day for a new adventure. This is when yoga is really important. There are yoga practices like restorative yoga, meditation, and guided relaxation that you can do that gives your nervous system a downtime and calmness for a deeper sleep.

Other than the above list there are other ways you can benefit from yoga while you’re on a travel like:
- Boosting your immune system
- Improves lung function (great for freedivers)
- Prevent digestive problems and improve bowel movement
Yoga is the perfect way to balance to your lifestyle. It is NOT impossible to add a 30-minute (at least) yoga session to your day. You can do it in the morning when you wake up or before you go to bed, or you can be creative and do it while you are in your tour. Either you take part in a yoga retreat or join yoga classes in a resort that you are staying. It’s all about the proper mindset and discipline.
So there you have it, go ahead and give it a try on your next trip and we would love to hear all about your experience.
